Hi, I'm Paulo Barbosa
Hi, I'm Paulo Barbosa
I design digital products by looking at the whole picture, not just the screen.
I work across the full product design lifecycle: user research, information architecture, wireframes, interactive prototypes, design systems, and developer handoff. Everything I build in Figma is built to scale, with reusable components, clear token structures, and documentation that engineering teams can actually use.
I came to design through a different door, and that turned out to be the point. I spent nine years running IT operations for a university in São Paulo. Infrastructure, service management, support teams, vendors. I got very good at understanding how complex systems work and how real people interact with them under pressure. When I moved to Australia and shifted into design, everything I had learned about systems thinking, documentation, and cross-functional coordination came with me.
Over the last six years I have delivered 150+ projects across web, mobile, and brand design for clients in retail, hospitality, safety, and business services. Visual craft remains central to how I work. My graphic design background means I care deeply about hierarchy, legibility, and the details that make an interface feel considered rather than just functional.
AI is integrated into my workflow at multiple stages. I use Claude and ChatGPT for research synthesis, content structuring, documentation generation, and IA validation. It makes me faster on the operational parts of the process so I can spend more time on the strategic decisions that tools cannot make for you: the thinking about hierarchy, flow, and structure that actually determines whether a product works.
Based on the Gold Coast. Open to remote product design opportunities. Always up for a problem worth solving.
